Social Sharing - Empty Link

I’ve dropped in the social sharing short code. When I run through an accessibility checker, I’m getting an error that the link contains no text. Can you help me fix that? Thanks!

Hello @marketinglaura,

Thanks for writing to us.

I checked your site(Using Tab and Enter Keystrokes) it seems that it is working fine at my end. It might be the cache issue at your end. I would suggest you clear your browser cache and then check it again.

Please have a look at the given screenshot given below.

Thanks

Thanks for the response. That does appear to work fine. My issue is when running it through a checker, I’m getting a notice that those href are missing text, which would be an issue for a screen reader user. So I’m wondering how to add text to the social icon.

I’m having the same issue with the social icons in my footer. I tried this info, but it hasn’t helped.

Here’s the info about the issue: “If a link contains no text, the function or purpose of the link will not be presented to the user. This can introduce confusion for keyboard and screen reader users. Remove the empty link or provide text within the link that describes the functionality and/or target of that link. An anchor element has an href attribute, but contains no text (or only spaces) and no images with alternative text.”

Hi @marketinglaura,

Regretfully, there is no such option to add the text to the Social Sharing link. I would suggest you hire a developer who can assist you to do the customization or you can avail of our newly launched service called One, where the customization questions are answered.

Thanks
