Hello Lilia,
Thank you for the very detailed post information. I have logged in and check your page. Actually there is a fatal error happening in your page both in the admin and the front end of your site. It turns out that it is because you are using PHP 5.6. Please make sure that you have meet the requirements to run the latest WordPress so that the theme and plugin features will work properly. I did some further investigation. WordPress 4.8 requires at least 7.0 (https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/). This could possibly be the cause of the issue. In most cases you cannot update your PHP version yourself and need to contact your host about this. The upgrade process is an easy process and should be something your host can do for you without affecting your website or charging you for it. Here’s a letter you can send to your hosting company:
Dear host,
I'm interested in running the open-source WordPress <https://wordpress.org/> web software and
I was wondering if my account supported the following:
- PHP version 7.2 or greater
- MySQL version 5.6 or greater OR MariaDB version 10.0 or greater
- Nginx or Apache with mod_rewrite module
- HTTPS support
Looking forward to your reply.
Hope this helps. Kindly let us know.
Hello,
I have made the following modifications:
Updated to PHP version 7.2
MySQL version is 5.6.32-78.0-log
Linux Apache Mod_rewrite is enabled
No SSL for now and don’t want to buy one if it isn’t going to fix the issue. It still remains, please help.
Thanks,
LF
Hello Lilia,
I can confirm that it has been updated and still there is a fatal error on the mentioned pages. Could you please enable the debug mode? You can do this by opening wp-config.php and adding
define('WP_DEBUG', true);
/* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */
When you revisit the page, you should have some error output describing the issue in more detail.
Please let us know how it goes.
I uninstalled and reinstalled VC again, and it seemed to work.
Thanks,
LF
