Visual Composer deletes line breaks in text blocks

Hi there,

When I add a line break in a text block in VC, it disappears after saving it. This way all text turns into one long paragraph! It seems from a different post that a fix has been made in VC 5.4.4. As VC is incorporated in your theme I have to wait untill you allow me to make that update. But maybe something different is going wrong?..

Any suggestions on when VC 5.4.4. is coming to X, or how this can be solved otherwise?
I have all the latest updates installed.

I tested with just some plug-ins that are native to X.

The line-breaks that you see are separate text blocks, not line-breaks.

Hi There,

Thanks for writing in! This is a known bug in Visual Composer and it seems to be fixed in the latest release. On our end, we haven’t pushed that Visual Composer update yet as there will be a X compatible testing process before releasing an update. I have reported your issue as well, so that we can expedite the process.

In the meantime, please edit the text in Text mode and add <br /> in the text where you want to add the line break. This will be only a temporary fix and if you edit again, you will need to add it again.

Does this mean that clients that updated their website to 5.2.5 lost all their line-breaks?
If yes, do they need to fix all lost line-breaks after updating?

Next question arises: If testing is involved before updating X, how can it be that this bug was in there without you guys noticing?

Hi There,

Sorry for the confusion here. This is a bug in Visual Composer, not in X.

The current X compatible Visual Composer version is v5.4.3 and this issue has been fixed in VC 5.4.5, which we haven’t pushed that update yet.

Error still exists in WP Page Builder 5.4.5 (5.4.5.1 is promised to fix that) so there is still no solution ?

Alright, read that already, but understandably this is no solution: We are managing (im sick of mentioning that over and over: we are HEAVY USERS/LICENSORS and we have partner status) around 40 sites with >10.000 pages on a daily basis, so “adding html code here and there” is slightly work intense…

We really need a true solution!

We’re sorry you are still having this issue. Can you open a new thread with the following information inside a secure note.

  • Site URL
  • Username
  • Password
  • Page and section with line break issue
