Vimeo stopped working in Essential Grid after recent update

Essential Grid was working fine before. Now, videos disappeared after last update. Example page: https://abilitymagazine.com/ability-videos/

Looks like EG were updating the Vimeo end. Updated to Vimeo API version 2.1.0, etc.

I tested Essential Grid with Vimeo on another site with no other plugins. Vimeo is still showing black. No video.

Thanks

Hello There,

Thanks for writing in! Could you please update to the latest versions?
Our latest versions are:

  • X theme 6.2.0
  • Cornerstone 3.2.0
  • Essential Grid 2.2.5

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog (http://theme.co/changelog/).

_After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.-

Please let us know how it goes.

Hi Updated XPro to 2.2.1. Essential Grid is 2.2.5. Cleared Cache.

Videos still not showing.

I tired on another site without Xpro. Essential grid has the same behavior.

Thanks!

Hello @chet,

Thanks for updating the thread.

I can confirm the video issue on my end too. Can you please share website login details in a secure note for us to take a closer look?

Thanks.

Thanks! Pleas see below

Hello There,

I can see that src is not added properly - it is blank. See this screencast showing when I add correct source the video displays correctly: https://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cFibQfFCI2. I am able to duplicate the issue on my install and confirm that the source of the video was not added resulting to black background. I will forward this to our developer for investigation at the moment. For the mean time, try to downgrade essential grid to previous version where vimeo is working. We will let you know once we have an update. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.

This is also happening with VIMEO API in The Grid.

Maybe it is related

Thanks for reporting. Maybe this is an issue with Vimeo. I’ll add this to the report of @Lely.

Hi Just following up. Is there any update?

Thanks!

Hello There,

There is still no update from the plugin developers. As soon as they release a patch for this issue, the plugin updates will be available in automatic updates.

Thank you for understanding.

I am running into the same issue. How do we downgrade to the previous version from within Pro?

Hello @fbeltran,

Please use the following URL to download Essential Grid and let us know how it goes.

Thanks.

Thank you, but I don’t see the URL. Was it omitted by accident?

Hi @fbeltran

The reason why you can’t see the link is that it was shared in Secure Note, which is visible only to the original thread author and our stuff, that’s why we don’t recommend replying on other users’ threads

In this case, you can open a new support thread and make sure to link to this one, so we can share the link in a Secure Note reply in the thread you opened.

Thanks.

Hi We uploaded FTP of new install of essential grid (from your link) Same behavior.

We are using the post function.

Thanks!

Hello There,

The change in the API of Vimeo could have caused this issue. Even if we downgrade, it will still not work because the control over the videos is in Vimeos control. We will just wait for the creators of the plugin to update the plugin and patch up the issue with the API.

Thanks for your understanding.

Essential grid said they tested and it is working. Here are samples:

Please advise.

Hi @chet,

I am not sure how they set the Vimeo but I tested the case with the version 2.2.5 of the Essential Grid and I still get a black background in the grid with no video available.

If you change the theme to the default theme of the WordPress you will see the same case, so that shows it is not related to our theme and there is no conflict.

We already added this to the issue tracker. You will need to wait for the upcoming release of the Essential Grid and at the moment we can not help you out as this is something related to the Essential Grid itself.

Our dev guys will surely be in contact with the developers of the Essential Grid but you will not get an update here. You need to wait for the upcoming release and follow up the case checking the changelog:

Thank you.

Hey there,
After playing with different settings, the only setting that actually worked was the Vimeo Thumbnail. https://www.screencast.com/t/qayxabsvA

Nice that it works, BUT all that thumbnails are making all the pages it’s on show mixed content.
See: https://abilitymagazine.com/ability-videos/

Any thoughts on how we can force https on the thumbnails?
Thanks!

Hi,

You can try installing this third party plugin, then do a search and replace.

Search for: http://abilitymagazine.com
Replace with: https://abilitymagazine.com

or you can try this plugin - https://wordpress.org/plugins/force-https-littlebizzy/

Hope that helps
