Video frame responsive styling

Hi team - not sure if this is specific to 5.0.7 or it was there before.

When you add a video, you can edit the frame and choose aspect ratio or unit. You can toggle between the 2 dependant on the breakpoint which is great as 16:9 videos look a bit small on mobile. But the input still shows ratio.

Hello @RubberDuckers,

Thanks for writing in! I have tested the issue and I can replicate it on our local testing server. I suspect that this is a bug in the latest release. I already added the issue to our issue tracker and will be looked into by our development team. I cannot make any promises relating to a fix at this stage. I will add a note to the tracker referencing your report though so our dev team can see there are multiple reports of the issue.

Please bear with us.

Hi @RubberDuckers,

Thanks for pointing this out. Regretfully, that setting isn’t something we can keep responsive as it gets tricky with dependent properties like that. For the next release (Pro 5.0.8) I’ve adjusted it to not allow being changed at different breakpoints. Once you choose Ratio/Unit, you can responsively change the setting below, but the top level decision will remain.

That being said, it’s still possible to reproduce a 16:9 aspect ratio while using the “unit” option. Set the Height to 56.25% (9 / 16 * 100), and you can keep the aspect ratio while preserving the flexibility of setting an explicit dimension on other breakpoints.

Hey @alexander - totally understandable and locking it to one out of Ratio/Unit makes sense.

I ended up using a column background as it was easier to manipulate and I actually wanted it more square for mobile to take up more vertical height, but thanks for that info on that - good to know for when I want a real video, not a background!

Hi @RubberDuckers,

Glad that you are able to find a solution to this.

Thanks
