Video embeds disappear after publishing portfolio

Hi there,

I have a client that cannot get a youtube embed to stay after it is published. She is putting the code in on the text editor view, you can then see the preview on the visual editor, but as soon as you publish the portfolio, the embed is gone.
I saw on another ticket to clear the cache which I have done - that did not help.

This site is using:
*WordPress version 5.3.2
*X theme 7.1.2
*Cornerstone 4.1.2

Any other ideas as to why they would have that issue - (I am able to add the embed code and save it on my end, but they have not been able to do so)

Hi @tkcostello,

Thank you for writing in, do you mean the Wordpress Classic Text Editor? If so, please try wrapping your iframe code with the Responsive Video shortcode.

If you mean the Cornerstone editor, please use the Video element for adding the video <iframe> code, not text element.

If you mean that the embed <iframe> code will totally disappear from whichever editor, try using a different browser or use the incognito/private mode feature of your browser where there are no caching and browser add-ons involve.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

I will give those a try. Thank you so much.

You’re most welcome @tkcostello

Cheers!

Hey again. Those suggestions didn’t seem to work. I have 2 web clients with the same issue. I am unable to replicate this as when I add in the HTML, it saves fine. I had one of them copy and paste the code into the same page that I was working on and it didn’t save and disappeared again…
Here is one of the sites that we are doing this on: https://fbclongwood.org/daily-discipleship/
[x_video_embed][/x_video_embed] https://prnt.sc/rm4np8

Other site was: https://cbcpalmyra.org/sermons/the-lords-financial-advice-during-a-pandemic/
[x_video_embed][/x_video_embed] https://prnt.sc/rm4muu

But after saving and publishing, this is what seems to be left: https://prnt.sc/rlczgv

Any thoughts or anything else we can do?

Hey @tkcostello,

Here are the scenarios I think why that happens.

1. Your client uses Gutenberg or Block Editor and pastes the code in a Paragraph Block.

Please tell your client to use either the HTML Block or the Shortcode Block.

2. The website is part of WordPress Multisite so your client is not a super admin.

Only super admins can add iframes due to security reasons. Please check if you’re a super admin in this case.

Hope that helps.

The Super admin thing IS correct - they are not supers, but I am…any work around then for that since they are doing all of the other scenarios correctly? :grimacing:

Hey @tkcostello,

Please try suggesting the Youtube Block. I believe that’s compatible with Multisite.

If that doesn’t help, regretfully, there’s nothing we could do and there’s no other way but to have a developer create a custom system for your site.

Thanks.

Again, thank you SO much for the information. I will give the suggestions you mention and try and see if those work.

You are most welcome!
