Video Background Without Sliders

Hello,

The sliders slow load times and don’t appear to work well for SEO.
Is there any other way i can put the slider i have on the bottom of my homepage as a section background without having to use an extension or application outside of normal coding?

We’d like to swap the image at the top of our page with the video at the bottom of it while leaving all the text and buttons in the top banner exactly how they appear now, just on top of a video instead of an image without losing SEO value.

Is this possible?

Thank you!

Hello Jesse,

Are you referring to the hero image in your homepage? At the moment, it has the background image. If you remove it and add a background vide, then that would be possible. All you have to do is change the background without changing anything on the contents of the column. Just adding the video will resolve your issue.

Hope this make sense.

I’m referring to the main background image at the top of the page just below the header menu navigation. If i replace the background image with a video nothing shows up, it just shows up as a white background upon page load. I’m trying to put a video in the background instead of the image, so that the image text and buttons i have overlayed on top of the existing background image are on top of a video instead - and i’d like to do this without the use of sliders. Simply using a video in place of the image doesn’t work, there’s no option in cornerstone that i can see that lets you place a video as a background, only ones that let you place images as backgrounds.

I’m on X Theme Standard - NOt on X Theme Pro - just saw someone made a video on how to do it with Pro and it’s simple, but unfortunately, i have been building this website ont he standard, and i can’t update to Pro without losing hte ability to edit all my existing work. I wish Themeco had made it possible to convert to Pro and still be able to edit all the existing objects with Pro’s increased functionality, but that’s not what y’all did to my knowledge.

So i’m looking for a solution to add a background image in standard X Theme cornerstone, not the PRO version.

Hello Jesse,

The video background should have work if you have inserted the correct video file format. Could you please send us the direct link of your video? You might need to post it in a secure note.

Meanwhile, please make sure that your video is in *.mp4, *ogv or *.webm format because these are the most cross browser compatible format. And please do not insert a Youtube or Vimeo link because it will not work.

Please let us know how it goes.

Again, in regular X theme, there is no video background option. I’m trying to add a video background in the regular X theme editor, not the PRO theme editor. In regular X theme, there is only the option to upload an image, and selecting a video instead of an image results in just a blank white background. The video I selected instead of the image isn’t a youtube or vimeo video, it’s hosted in my media folder where all my other site imagery is hosted.

So, i’m still trying to ask, how do I put a video background in a content section using the Regular X Theme, NOT the PRO X theme.

Hi Jesse,

It’s the same in X. Please make sure you have enable advanced option.

Thanks

OMG IT WAS THAT SIMPLE@???!

Thank you, that was it.
Advanced was not enabled!

You’re welcome!
We’re glad @Paul.r were able to help you out.
