Video Background Issue - Revisited

Hi.
Video background width issue: I am able to have width be fine on my site www.aliveandshine.center, which was through the old XTheme it seems. But when I try to recreate that with a different video background on my site splendidheart.com I am noticing it just makes it square and does not make the width full. What do I do? How do I make the video full width so that I can add a gap to make the video taller and so forth. Thank you!

Mobile question: I was also wondering additionally how to make the video appear on the mobile sites as well? Is that possible? At all? With the new theme maybe?

Hi Zenia,

Thanks for writing in! I have checked your second site (splendidheart.com), but I could not see any background videos. You may have removed it, however most probable cause would be that your video resolution. Could you please try following this post and see if that helps (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/pro-video-background-not-fullwidth-anymore/15340/2?u=mldarshana).

Background videos are disabled automatically for mobile as it will be resource intensive. So the recommend method would be to set a poster image, which will be displaying on mobile devices.

Thanks!

Hi. I tried not doing it through a youtube source, but doing it through background layer, and the video won’t even load at all. It’s only 75MB. https://splendidheart.com/home2/

What do I do? It doesn’t load what-so-ever. It works in Pro editing mode, and it’s fullwidth, but it doesn’t show up on the link at all.

Regarding mobile, lots of sites have video for mobile, what do they do?

Hi Zenia,

You shouldn’t use youtube video, it’s not a video file but instead, it uses its own video player and they are usually have black gaps/bar. You should use a MP4 video, like this https://sample-videos.com/video123/mp4/720/big_buck_bunny_720p_1mb.mp4

And your current videos are MOV files which will only work on a device with quick time player like Mac or IOS. Please use MP4 video instead of that. You can use a video converter to convert your existing video files.

Thanks!
