Vertical scroll bar down side of page in Cornerstone doesn't work after latest update!

Hi, I’ve just updated a few of my sites to the latest update of Pro and after doing so, I’ve tried to make some changes to a page using Cornerstone and the vertical scroll bar down the page doesn’t work! Instead a horizontal ruler at the bottom of the page appears when I go to scroll down the page. I’ve looked to see if there’s a setting in Preferences to turn the ruler off as I’d prefer my scroll bar to work as it should do and did do before the update!

I’ll put my admin login details in a secure note, otherwise you won’t be able to see the issue as it’s fine on the front end.

Thanks

Hello @core365,

Thanks for writing to us

I checked your site it seems that the Cornerstone page builder scroll is working at my end. It might be an issue with the browser cache. I would suggest you clear your browser cache and then check it again. Please have a look at the given screenshots in the secure note.

In case if you are pointing to something else please share marking screenshots or video.

Thanks

Hi @prakash_s,

I’ve emptied my cache and logged back into the admin, but I still have the same problem. When I go to scroll down the page - using the scroll bar down the right hand side of the screen (not the scroll bar to the Cornerstone menu that’s down the left hand side of the page), there are 2 arrows that appear indicating left and right and the ruler appears across the bottom of the page. I’m on a mac and using Chrome Version 92.0.4515.159. I don’t know how to solve this, other than to go back down to the previous version of Pro.

I’ll put the screen grab in a secure note to show you what appears when I try to scroll down the page.

If there isn’t a solution to this, can you let me know how I can go back to the previous version of Pro please.

Thanks

Hi @core365,

If I have understood it correctly, you don’t want the Ruler on the page. If that is the case, the Ruler appears only when the Breakpoint option is selected. If you deselect the option, the Ruler will disappear from your screen.

If that is not the case and you are trying to point out something else, please provide any screenshot marked with the issue or any video that helps us to recognize the problem.

NOTE: Although the previous stable version is available in your Themeco Account dashboard, we will request you to stay with the updated version.

Thanks

Hi @tristup,

The ruler appears even when the breakpoint option isn’t selected. Instead of the usual mouse pointer arrow you get when you hover over the scroll bar, I get an arrow pointing left and right and when I click on the scroll bar, the ruler appears across the bottom of the screen. I’ll include a screen grab in a secure note to show this.

Thanks!

Hi @core365,

The latest updates have that feature for some purposes, it will allow you to resize the layout to a bigger screen for some responsive purposes. It was explained properly on the link below and there’s no option to disable it.

That being said, I suggest that you use the mouse scroll to up and down the content view or you can use the arrow keys up and down on your keyboard.

Hope that helps.

Hi @marc_a,

The scroll ball on my mac mouse hasn’t worked for ages and having to use the arrow keys on my keyboard isn’t ideal and I’d rather not have to do that when I should be able to use the vertical scroll bar as I have always done! Can you let me know how I can go back to the previous version of Pro please.

Thanks

Hi @core365,

We’re sorry that you’re experiencing it on your end! It is advisable to have the latest version of the theme installed on your website to avoid any potentials vulnerability of the code in the future but If you wish to stick with the previous version, you can download it on your themeco dashboard.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.

Hi @marc_a,

Thanks! I’ve just tried to install the previous version but Cornerstone doesn’t change back to the previous version, can you let me know how to do that please.

Thanks!

Hi @core365,

You need to remove the existing Cornerstone plugin by deleting it from the Plugin list, and then use the link in the dashboard to automatically install the Cornerstone. It will be the compatible version of the X version you installed.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

Hi @tristup,

That’s great, thanks! Now I’ve reverted back to the previous version, the scroll bar is back to working as it should!

Thanks

Hi @core365,

Glad that we are able to help you.

Thanks

I’m just going to chime in here. This feature is ridiculous and has been driving me nuts today. I understand what you guys were going for, but sacrificing the usability of the scroll bar on the right side of the screen for a gimmicky “feature” isn’t good UX design. In your minds, maybe you think no one ever uses the manual scroll bar on the side of the screen, but that is far from the truth. I use it all the time, especially for longer pages, and I imagine many other people do as well. I swear…you guys continually come up with new ways to frustrate me when using your builder. No way to save a draft, no way to collapse the toolbar to view the page in full, and now this? C’mon guys.

Hey @core365 and @promofuse,

Thank you both for your feedback. I have posted this in our issue tracker so this will be queued for investigation by our development team. I’ve suggested that the resizer be disabled if no breakpoint preview is enabled.

Just note that there are many factors are considered when modifying or fixing a feature like difficulty or number of users wanting the feature so with that said, we can’t guarantee my suggestion would be implemented.

Thanks.

Same issue for me here and its very annoying.

Hi @wbc,

My colleague has already reported the feedback from others into our issue tracker for further investigation by our development team.

Thanks
