Vertical block TOC via shortcode?

EDIT: I found a solution, so never mind. Thanks.

I’m sure I’m just tired and missing something obvious, but the default behavior for the table of contents shortcode in “block” is:

A… B… C…

Instead of:

  1. A
  2. B
  3. C

… when adding more than one column. Left/right work the way I want but waste a lot of space by on my page.

Is there a way to change this, or a way to cut off a left/right format TOC so that it stops expanding downwards and creates a column instead? Thanks!
