VC Shortcodes Broken?

All my Visual Composer pages are broken now after upgrading to Pro Theme.

I emailed VC support and this is what they said…

“The issue is because our standard elements such as vc_gmaps, vc_text_separator, vc_column_text, etc. are disabled in the theme by the theme author using vc_remove_element. Due to this they fail to render and display as shortcodes. You can get in touch with the theme author and get rid of the above code from the theme to get it back. Kindly check.”

How can I fix this issue please?

Hi There,

Were you using a different theme before changing to PRO?

Is the visual composer that you were using bundle with X or not?

Please provide your URL so we can take a closer look.

Thanks

It was a different theme before adding Pro. VC is a separate license.

Hi,

You can disable x integration under Visual Composer > Settings > X Integration

By disabling X integration it will make Visual Composer oparate natively without any overwriting being done.

Thanks

I tried this. It still is not working. Almost looks worse… http://devnew.associated-realty.com/contact/

Hi,

In that case, would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? Please provide following information:

Set it as Secure Note

  • Link to your site
  • WordPress Admin username / password

All the best!

I need your IP address to allow login via your IP. How do I give you credentials privately?

Hello There,

Thanks for providing the information. I have investigated the issue and I found the cause of the issue. The setting to disable X integration in Visual Composer > Settings > X Integration is working perfectly. You thought it is not working all because you are using other shortcodes coming from the Ultimate Addon for VC which is deactivated. I went ahead and activate the plugin and your issue has been fixed. Everything is back to normal now.

Please check your site again.

Thanks, sorry for being such a noob.

You’re most welcome!
If you need anything else we can help you with, don’t hesitate to open another thread.

So I followed all of these step to do the same thing on the LIVE site and it didn’t work. Was anything else done?

Hi there @verobeachmarketing,

Nothing else was done on the staging site, if you could supply the details for the Live site and we’ll take a look.

Thanks!

I can’t apply the theme on the LIVE site due to this issue. I have to revert theme back. I can do this like late in the evening like in a couple hours can you give me a set window?

Or Apply it check it and let me know and revert back when done? Make it fast please.

Is there a way to export all Pro theme settings, header, homepage, footer, etc. and just apply it on LIVE site instead of implementing each element? The database on LIVE is most accurate for content and dev has become out of date but the implementation for homepage and theme are approved by client. Just curious. I looked for this but didn’t really find a way. Tried a few times.

I have gone ahead and made the template LIVE and integration the pieces one by one…

http://associated-realty.com/contact/ - the page not working

Nevermind, I am just going to launch the dev site and loose a month of the LIVE data. I tried to copy over the homepage via text and now it’s not editable and this is not very forgiving. Cornerstone shows no boxes. It doesn’t make sense to me that the Pro backend code is not transferable. It really needs to be easier to migrate theme pieces.

Example page not working from going live… http://associated-realty.com/vero-beach-realtors/

This page was originally blank and I reverted version to get the VC code but it is not working. I just do not understand how this does not work and the contact page does.

Hi there,

Have you used some tool to migrate it to live site? I checked your provided URL and the last revision was a year ago, and that revision only contains this text “Vero Beach Realtors”. Then you restored it 24hours ago, which then resulted restoring the " “Vero Beach Realtors” content.

And what do you mean by cornerstone has no boxes, are we investigating multiple issues?

And if your existing contents are blank from a year of revision, then I guess your issue started from that time. You may re-do your page content or export your VC content from a working staging and transfer/import it to your live page.

Thanks.

No, just flipped DNS. But it was back and forth a few times over this issue. I finally got the dev site LIVE now.

Essentially now VC doesn’t work at all…

https://associated-realty.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=2&action=edit&wpb_vc_js_status=true

The page was empty for no reason. There were cookie issues, and domain issues but they are all fixed now.

My only issue is VC. I can’t use back end editor. I can’t use regular editor visual mode either.

Hi there,

Would you please kindly change the theme of the live website temporarily to other one and then check to see if the VC is working? If it is still not working I suggest that you contact VC developers to investigate the case for you as they will be more qualified for that.

The thing that comes to mind is the difference between PHP versions of the dev and live server and the PHP memory limit setting.

Kindly contact the live website hosting service provider and ask them to increase the memory limit:

Thank you.
