Using x shortcodes with different theme?

I saw this page about a shortcodes plugin:

So, I’m wondering how one gets this plugin?

If I were to switch from X to a completely different theme, all of my existing posts (hundreds) use x shortcodes.

I trust there’s a way to make it so those shortcodes work on a different theme.

thank you

Hi @ShermanPotter,

Thanks for reaching out.

Yes, you can use them in another theme by installing and activating the cornerstone plugin. The shortcode is not bound to our theme, it’s usable anywhere.

Thanks!

Hi thanks, just want to verify that I asked my question correctly because I use shortcodes and don’t have the cornerstone plugin activated.

For example, I’m talking about shortcodes such as:
[x_gap size=“2em”]
[content_band style="color: #333][/content_band]
[x_blockquote] [/x_blockquote]
[icon type=“arrow-circle-right”]

So, to be clear, such code would be rendered by another theme that has cornerstone activated?

As I said, I don’t quite understand because I’m not presently using the Cornerstone plugin. These shortcodes beginning with x_ seem specific to this theme.

Thank you

Hello @ShermanPotter,

Please take note that X shortcodes and its functionality has been consolidated into Cornerstone which you can install by going to X > Validations if you have X theme installed. Just take a few moments and let the theme automatically install it.

If you are using Pro theme, Cornerstone is already integrated into the theme itself. You do not have a separate Cornerstone plugin when you install Pro.

When there is a need to use those shortcodes, you will have to buy a separate license instead. You can get it from Envato.

Hope this helps.

Hi. I am using X Pro theme.

In my plugins section, Cornerstone is listed, but it is deactivated.

If I understand you correctly, my X Pro theme is using an integrated version of Cornerstone.

The answer that I’m trying to get from you…if I switch to an all together different theme that has nothing to do with X theme…and, I purchase and use the Cornerstone plugin that you linked to…then, my current posts that have all these shortcodes that start with [x_ … these shortcodes make it abundantly clear that they’re associated with X theme because it’s always x_line, x_blockquote, x_this, x_that…

You’re telling me that if I use a completely different, non-X theme with that Cornerstone plugin, all of the x_this, x_that shortcodes will render properly?

thank you

Hello @ShermanPotter,

[line], [x_line], [contentband] and [x_contentband] will be rendered the same as long as you activate Cornerstone plugin with another non-X Theme. We already have converted this X shortcodes into Cornerstone. All the X shortcodes should display correctly.

Hope this helps.

Great to hear. Thank you

You are most welcome!
