Using different sidebars for different posts based on tags

Hey everyone,

Right now we’re using the custom sidebar option for our newsletter posts. We’ve got big newsletters so they’re divided in different topics.

Right now, we use tags to display the different sidebars. This works well, but in the sidebar menu we still have to select which posts (in the “all pages and posts” selection) to display the sidebar on.

There’s also a selection box for “all taxonomies” where we select the tag we use for every sidebar we create.

Example:

My question:

Shouldn’t it be possible to only select the tag instead of every single post? So, if we select the tag “topic” for a sidebar 1, then every post/page that carries the tag “topic” displays sidebar 1.

Thanks

Hi @loretb,

Thanks for reaching out.
Currently assigning the sidebar to the taxonomy will show the sidebar into the Archive page of that specific taxonomy, not the individual post. Still, I will create a feature request so it might be taken into account in the future.

Thanks

Hey Trustup,

Thanks for the reply! I hope it gets implemented in the future  Then i have another question… Under “all pages and posts” would it be possible to show the posts ids and page ids instead of the titles then? And if so, which file do i edit?

Thanks in advance

Hello @loretb,

That would not be possible. Doing so, would mean that you will have to edit the parent’s theme files and that will always not the case because it will always gets overwritten when there is a theme update. It might also lead to a conflict and incompatibility issues with the latest updates.

Be advised that custom coding is beyond the scope of our support under our Support Policy. If you are unfamiliar with code and resolving potential conflicts, you may select our One service for further assistance.

Hope this helps.

Oh well that’s annoying oO Okidoki
