User role changing to admin

Hey guys,

Getting quite a serious problem. I’m getting random users access roles changing to admin. I’m having to manually change them back.

I have no idea how to change this and it’s been happening for a while.

I used to use the plug-in “User Role Editor” but it’s been deleted a long time ago. Other than that I have no plugin that interacts with users of the site.

I don’t know how to approach debugging this. I’ve tried disabling plugins but it continues to happen.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I checked Admin > Settings > General and yes, the listed roles are different from mine. There is no Subscriber role which usually the default. I recommend contacting the User Role editor plugin to see how you can reset it. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how it internally works so I couldn’t provide any idea of what’s happening.
