Use thumbnails with recent posts

Hello there,

just started using the recent posts element added in the new release and it’s really awesome! My only question is how do I show the thumbnail version instead of the original featured image? I just don’t see the option but it would help to have them as the thumbnail version for performance sake. No need to serve up the original image. Am I missing something?

Regretfully, there’s no option to do that as of the moment and I will make a feature request so it might be taken into account in the future.

I believe this is a critical feature for performance sake. There is a reason Wordpress core auto generates differently sized thumbnails for every image. It seems to me that this would be a simple extension of the current dynamic content that brings in the featured image.
