Use Table of Contents Plus with the Integrity X-Theme / Cornerstone

Hi

I am having some troubles using Table of Contents Plus Plugin for Wordpress with the Integrity X-Theme.

The shortcode [toc] is already “taken” in Cornerstone, but, as far as I can see, it’s the only way to use the Table of Contents Plus Plugin for Wordpress within a specific position of a page.

How can I make sure when entering the short-code [toc] that Cornerstone does not take its own shortcode, but lets the other plugin prevail?

Thanks,
Andrea

Hi Andrea,

I can see [toc] is being used in Visual Composer plugin integration, so if you have Visual Composer plugin activated, you can turn off “X Integration” at (WPBakery Page Builder > X Integration). After doing this you should be able to use [toc] shortcode as you want.

Thanks.

Thank you Alaa for your quick response.

However, I am not finding the Visual Composer settings in my WP Dashboard/Admin Menu.
And I also don’t seem to use the WPBakery Page Builder in X-Theme (Integrity).

Do you know where to find it?

Or are you referring to some files in the php files directory?

Thanks,
Andrea

Hi Andrea,

You should be able to access the settings through your WordPress backend menus as follows.

The you should be able to disable it.

Hope that helps.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply!

As I said I am using X-Theme and can see any WPBakery Page Builder here:

Hi Andrea,

Sorry for the confusion, the panel that Darshana shows you are under WPBakery Page Builder

If you’re using Cornerstone for building your page, please deactivate the WPBakery Page Builder instead. To do that, please navigate to Plugins panel look for WPBakery Page Builder and deactivate it.
That should avoid the [toc] shortcode conflict.

Cheers!

Thank Friech

However, I definitely don’t see that WPBakery is installed anywhere. It is also not listed in my plugins:

Yes, I do use Cornerstone.

Please let me know how I can solve the [toc] shortcode conflict WITHOUT having WPBakery installed.

Thank you for your patient  efforts,
Andrea

Hey Andrea,

We’re sorry for the confusion again. Based on your screenshot, you’re definitely not using Visual Composer. The [toc] shortcode is an old shortcode of Cornerstone that is still being supported. See http://demo.theme.co/integrity-1/shortcodes/table-of-contents/

It looks like there is a shortcode naming collision here with your Table of Contents Plus plugin. Regretfully, we do not have support for such conflicts. You can remove the toc shortcode by using the remove_shortcode WordPress hook but that might remove the shorcode of Table of Contents Plus as well so you will need to register the shortcode back and that would be quite involved and that would be considered custom development which is outside the scope of our support.

We also could not change our shortcode because that would break thousands of websites using our theme. You will need to contact the plugin developer to change their shortcode. I checked the plugin’s page though and it looks like the development of the plugin is not active anymore. With that said, you might want to consider another solution.

Thank you for understanding.

Thank you Christian for your valuable reply and your effort! –

I will see if I find any alternative that works with Cornerstone.

Thanks again,
Andrea

You’re most welcome Andrea!

Just in case anyone has the same issue:

I am now using FIXED Toc (https://codecanyon.net/item/fixed-toc-wordpress-plugin/7264676) and it works perfectly with Cornerstone.

Hi There,

Thank you for sharing, surely that will help others.

Cheers!
