I’m building a writer’s website. There will be a usual blog for news and updates on the books, but there should be wiki-like area and pages like reviews of the movies and books which inspired the writer. And it would be great to put 3 last posts/pages from each of these on the homepage automatically like with the normal blog posts.
So I can’t decide which I should use: posts or pages.
My understanding is, posts are better from a usability point of view: I can easily put them in categories and showcase on the homepage in different places, new posts being added automatically.
But then I will have all the content in the blog feed, and I would like to avoid this. Because the blog is for news and updates, right? And things like wiki entries about the book universe, or ruminations on inspiring movies, should be separated from the blog.
But then, can I automatically showcase the newly added pieces (pages) from different categories on the homepage?
To showcase the books, I think I need to create one main page showcasing covers and titles with short blurbs and buttons linking to a particular book page. There are not many books now. And for the wiki, I think I need to create the main page with a glossary divided in categories, each word of the glossary linking to a particular page dedicated to this term. Is it okay to use pages for this or posts would be better?
I’m confused here, really need your help and opinion. Maybe I’m too much worried about this? How do you go about creating sites with a lot of content that should be separated between multiple projects/areas? How do you go about the blog?
