Urgent! My Wordpress site header became weird. Please help

Hi Support Team,

My WordPress site’s (X theme) header acts so weird that the logo (was supposed to be much smaller on the top left corner) became so big and it even overlapped with my content below. (See below screenshot, left: 1)

When I scrolled down, the white strip shows and the logo becomes black from white (which is what it’s supposed to be), but the size of it is still very annoying. It almost blocks half all the content too. (See below screenshot, right: 2)

I didn’t change my setting at all. So, I was wondering if it’s because of the continual updates of Wordpress that got me into this trouble. I asked you guys about some customization on the header, and some of you gave me some CSS and Javascript so I can copy and paste into Appearance > Customize > Custom. It was about more than 2 years ago, I am not sure if you could help and check if it relates to any of my previous customizations. I have been trying to fix it myself, but I can’t find how to do it.

The other problem is the header on the top lost all the styles (the font, color, and size are all wrong), so they now look not right.

I am very confused and frustrated about all the problems that came suddenly because I didn’t change any settings. If you guys can help, I am able to give you my login information for you to fix. Due to it’s a running site for my business, it’s kinda urgent.

If there’s anything you need to clear out for spotting the problems, please feel free to ask.

Thanks,
Wei

Anyone can help? Thanks.

Hello Wei,

Thanks for writing in! Just for future topics, self responding or bumping your post pushes it back in our Queue system so it takes longer to respond to.

Can you please update to the latest versions?
Our latest versions are:
- X theme 7.1.2
- Cornerstone 4.1.2

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog (http://theme.co/changelog/).

After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches since you have installed W3 Total Cache so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

And please clear your browser cache too. You may use private browsing mode in testing your site to make sure that you are viewing the latest codes from the updates and not the cached version in your browser.

Hope this helps. Please let us know how it goes.

Hi RueNel,

Thanks for your suggestion. I thought about the update to the latest versions. But will my website content (layout) be changed after it? I used Conerstone to build it and used Woocommerce Booking too. Can you clear out my doubts? Thank you very much.

Thanks,
Wei

Hello Wei,

The updates will not affect your content that was previously built in Cornerstone. It should be fine. If you are still worried, I would recommend that you create a staging site instead. This is very useful because you can test drive any X updates in the staging area, do the customizations and troubleshooting without disrupting your live site. Once everything is perfect, you can easily and flawlessly proceed the update in the live site. To know how to create a staging area, please check out these articles:

Cheers.

Thank you. All the problems were fixed after the updates. I really appreciate your help. Customer service is always excellent with you guys since day 1 I purchased your product.

You’re welcome, @Chiweilin. Thank you for your kind words also.

Hi dear support,

Since I updated the theme and cornerstone to the newest version. Everything went great.

But there’s still one problem: I used Woocommerce Booking for the booking system, and the setting was originally asking for our customer for some information (like email, cell phone number and etc) on the checkout page. After every necessary section was filled, then the next step is to click “Proceed to Payment” button (customer automatically registered as a user in wordpress user database) before leading customers to Paypal for the final payment. This is supposed to be our original process and has been performed pretty well in the last two years.

However, this morning there’s a customer (new user, her email hasn’t been registered) telling me after she filed up all the necessary sections on the checkout page and hit “Proceed to Payment” button. The page scrolled back up to the top, and then she scrolled down to hit the button again, the browser scrolled back to the top again and shows “An account is already registered with your email address. Please log in.” as shown in below:

So, I came to wp backend to check, her email was actually registered in WP user database. It was weird to me as this never happened before. When a new customer hit “Proceed to Payment” button, the new customer’s email will be automatically registered in the database ADN the customer is led to Paypal to pay directly. Now, it becomes that the customer needs to check his/her email to find out the automatically generated password, and then come back to the same checkout page to login, and then repeat the same process again to be led to Paypal. It’s very confusing and troublesome to them.

I have updated Woocommerce to the latest version and tested so many times myself, this issue still exists. Can you help me with this? I can give you my login info for you to check. Again, thank you as always.

Hi @Chiweilin,

We’re sorry you’re having this issue. It would be best if you can open a new thread for this one since the original issue is now fixed and this one is not related anymore. This will help others who is searching for answers on the forum to make sure titles are relevant to the issue at hand.

Please make sure to use the plugin version compatible with theme. Then try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

If it’s not cause by any plugin, and the issue persists, please open a new thread. Share all the information there and also add the credentials inside a secure note.

No need to answer on this thread. We will continue the investigation on the new thread. Thank you.
