Urgent help needed! Updating the Cornerstone plugin to version 6.0.8 breaks old Cornerstone styling

When I update the Cornerstone plugin it is breaking the styling of multiple layouts across the website that were mostly created with Cornerstone. The reason I need to update Cornerstone is because I have created charts that look great on the backend, but then show none of the styling when it’s actually published on the live webpage.

I currently have Cornerstone version 5.3.3 installed, and am trying to install version 6.0.8. My website, CTCSoftware.com, is using a child theme based off an older version of the X theme that was created a few years ago by an employee a while back that has since left the company, so I don’t know how to proceed.

If I get the ‘Care’ level support plan will you help troubleshoot it so that the cornerstone responsive landing page shows on the front end the same way that it looks on the backend? Its driving me nuts building these amazing layouts then having it not work.

Hi @benragsdale,

Thank you for writing in, please note that X and Cornerstone needs to be in same latest version (refer here), that means if you update Cornerstone to 6.0.8, you should also update X to 9.0.8, Actually you should update the X theme first before the Cornerstone to avoid conflict issue.

Remember to clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) after updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

If its true that the issue is coming from the child theme, then the custom codes on your child theme needs to be check. If you are unfamiliar with code and resolving potential conflicts, you may opt-in on our One service for further assistance.

Our CARE is for updating and maintenance service, we are not going to fix if an issue occur but just restore the site.

Cheers,

Ah, ok that makes sense, thank you! So I am working through the documentation to get the theme up to date with as well as cornerstone, and am trying to do it in our test environment before making it live. In the test environment it says that the X theme cannot be updated because the X theme key isn’t correct. Is it possible to get a timebombed X theme key that works for a week so that I can troubleshoot it on the test site, then when I have it all figured out make it live? Also with a test site but only one live site, would that still technically be 1 site for the ‘One’ service plan?

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,

I already answered your questions in the email. I am guessing that we are all set here.

Thank you.
