Urgent! After theme PRO update I get: There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions

Hello I can’t log in to wp-admin because I get this critical error notification.
page url: skode.merkur-zav.si

Please help as soon as possible because this page is for our client.

Update: when I go into wp-admin via recovery mode, I see that under themes I have only child theme now and not parent pro theme anymore? What caused this? I have updated theme and this error occured. What would be the solution? To manually install parent theme pro in the recovery mode of wordpress?

I don’t want to lose all the work I’ve done so far.

Hello @IRIMAGE,

Thanks for writing to us.

It seems that the Pro theme is not properly updated that is why the Pro theme(Parent theme) is missing. I would suggest you download the Pro theme from your Themeco account dashboard and upload it by using FTP(In case if you have no idea about FTP please contact your hosting provider). You need to upload the theme here Path: wp-content/themes/

asdv (1)

Themeco-Single-Licenses (1)

In case if you haven’t seen our doc about how to manually update the theme please have a look at it

If it doesn’t work for you please share your FTP details in the secure note so that we can check it.

Thanks

Hello I will provide the details. I won’t lose any css tweaks in global css after reinstallation of the theme right? And code in functions.php of the child theme will remain intact?

This is current content of the theme that is missing (see attachment). Do I overwrite it or do I have to delete it first and than upload fresh files?

Thank you!

Hello Peter,

Yes, You can share Cpanel details or FTP details in the secure note so that we can check it.

Thanks

Hello team. Here are credentials:

Hi Peter,

Thank you for the credentials, the site should work normally now. I have re-install PRO 4.3.1 on your site.
Before you update to PRO 4.3.3, can you try upgrading your PHP version first to at least 7.3?

Cheers,

Thank you. I would change it but on this server is main page of the company and I don’t want to fiddle with setting by my self because I don’t know what would happen to it. I have written to the server owner regarding PHP update.

We have another page with your theme PRO. On that page/server PHP is set to latest version 7.4. Is it safe to update theme on that page? I didn’t dare to update it there since this happend on this page

Thank you for your help.
Best regards,
Peter

Hey @IRIMAGE,

I use PHP 7.4 on my site and Pro is working and updating fine. Server setups vary though so it is strongly recommended that website owners have a backup of their sites so that they have something to revert to if something goes wrong. It’s also best to test the update in a staging copy of your site.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for your help in info.

Problem solved. Cheers,
Peter

Glad we could help,

Cheers!
