Upgrading x

Hi

I have to rebrand a site which is currently running X theme V 3.0.1 and need to upgrade it to latest version as Visual composer is not functioning properly so really need to do this

I have searched for upgrading topics but not finding any from an older version and am reluctant to upgrade without advice

Can you advise whats the best process for this please?

Hi Garreth,

To ensure that your website will work well is reccomended to keep updating your website regularly, right now you are many versions behind, and the upgrade will most likely bring issues.

We are now beyond version 5 while you are still on version 3 which has at least 2 years old.

You will need to perform a manual update this time, but expect errors and some work to fix it.

First of all Backup your website.

  1. Revoke your purchase code from X Addons section (check the bottom of the page) and also remove it from your license page on Themeco.

  1. Temporary disable any caching plugins and purge all your server cache.

  2. Delete both X theme (/wp-content/themes/x) and Cornerstone plugin (/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone) by connecting to your FTP (your settings will be saved in the database)

  3. Download the latest copy of X and upload it to your themes folder via FTP OR you can upload the x.zip via Appearance -> Themes section.

  4. Latest version of Cornerstone will be installed automatically when you head over X Addons section. Now you try validating your X theme again and then try to install any other extension and it should function properly.
