Upgrading from old version of Pro theme

Hi,

I’m new to theme.co and effectively inherited a hosted WP site which was running a 4.1.5 version of the Pro themeco theme.

The hosted server was rebooted and that triggered an audit of the theme versions and now WP will not activate the unsupported theme.

I’ve purchased a new license of theme.co pro and have the key. I do see the theme in the WP admin console, but not where I can update the key and upgrade the version. Is that possible or do I have to do a new install of the theme and then restore the code?

Hey Jeff,

Thanks for reaching out!

In your themeco account, you can download the latest version of that theme. Once you upload the updated theme to your website, you can validate it using your license.

Thanks Marc. I’ve been able to download the latest version and have the license key.

Can I simply update the current theme with the new license key or do I have to upload the entire new theme? I’m asking because I am trying to avoid moving code. I am not that familiar with Wordpress so my question may not make sense.

perhaps said another way, If I upload the new theme with the new key, and activate the theme, will the same database and code be used with that new theme?

Yes, you can upload the theme, and once activated, you may need to check all your website content. Please do it in the staging area first. And, if you see any issues, you can reach out to us.
