Upgrade to WordPress 6.0.2 recommended?

Good morning,
I wanted to reach out and find out if you would recommend me upgrading to the current WordPress version available.

Currently the website is still running on WordPress 5.9.3
I’m using Cornerstone version 6.1.4
I’m also using the X Child theme. X version is: 9.1.4

It appears that all plugins in particular the WPML plugin have been upgraded (which I’ve installed) to support WordPress 6+ version.

I check your Version Compatibility page at regular intervals and there is nothing listed with regards to recommending upgrades to the 6+ WordPress version, it still lists 5+.

Would you recommend me upgrading to the current WordPress Core Version of: 6.0.2?

Many thanks for your feedback.

Hi Cara,

Thanks for reaching out.
We always recommend maintaining the supported version mentioned on the Version Compatibility page. Still, if you update the WordPress to the latest version and faced any problems please let us know for further assistance.

Thanks

Hi @tristup,

We don’t have access to a test/beta server or have a Sandbox, so the upgrade would impact our live site and I know other clients had issues when they upgraded to version WordPress 6.0.1.

I check your version compatibility page on a regular basis, but the General Requirements section hasn’t been updated in the past 6 months.

When do you intend to update that section on the page, so I can be sure not to encounter any issues?

All major plugins for our site were updated over the past couple of weeks to support Wordpress version 6.0.2. The most recent WPML.

Looking forward to your feedback as to when you will update the version compatibility page.

Many thanks again.

Hey Cara,

Because every WordPress site is different, it’s strongly recommended to test updates on a staging or test server. WordPress 6 with the latest version of Pro works on my end. But, it’s just my site. I’m not sure if WordPress 6 will work for your site because, again, my site is different than yours.

We don’t have an ETA as to when we’ll update the Version Compatibility page. Even if we do update it, there would still be a chance that you might encounter an issue. That is because, again, our testing sites might be different than yours. That is why it is important that you report issues, and it is important that you do that in a staging copy of your live site. Having a staging site is an industry standard practice, especially for agencies.

Thank you for understanding.
