Upgrade from X to Pro only on staging site

Hello,
I have a site that is currently using X. I need to upgrade it to a Pro license, but want to do this within my staging area only. Can I keep the X license active on the Live site while making all the changes on the staging area, which is using the upgraded Pro license?
If yes, is it as straightforward as I would imagine?

Hi Paul,

Thanks for reaching out.
Once you update the X to Pro, the previous license will be invalid. You can run the X in live till you set up the Pro and do the modification in your staging, but the license of X will be invalid.

Thank you for your response. If the old license becomes invalid, will the live site still work for people visiting the site?

Yes, the live website still working as it should be. The license is for you to receive an update for upcoming releases.
