Updating to Google Analytics 4

So I’ve been using the Themeco Google Analytics plugin for tracking and have been under the Universal Analytics tracking snippet.

This is obviously going away, and apparently has some security issues on top of that.

I have already created my new GA4 property, and have the new code.

So what’s the easiest way to add a new GA4 snippet?

Do I just the same plugin with just the updated snippet or is there something else I need to do?

I previously had it load in the footer, would it be better to have GA4 load in the header?

Hello John,

Regretfully the Google Analytics extension does not support the GA4 property yet. We do have an upcoming update for the plugin. Sadly, we do not have an ETA yet on when it is available. We highly recommend that you deactivate Google Analytics plugin and use the Google’s official WordPress plugin called Site Kit. You can check it out here:
