Updating theme is causing a fatal error

Hi Guys

When I updated the theme this morning it caused a fatal error. I’ve since restored from a back-up. I wonder if you could cast any light on the cause.

The site is: drymec.com
PHP version is definitely 7.4 despite the odd warning about it being 7.0.33, so there’s something odd there.
Installed version of Pro is: 4.3.1
Wordpress version is: 5.8

Best regards
Keith

Here’s the report from Wordpress:

Howdy!

Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with your theme, Pro.

First, visit your website (https://drymec.com/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (https://drymec.com/wp-admin/) and check for any visible issues.

Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.

If your site appears broken and you can’t access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special “recovery mode”. This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.

https://drymec.com/wp-login.php?action=enter_recovery_mode&rm_token=JDLyPLQLw9OGBQVQT7262T&rm_key=KZOqBlTk2IrrfaflRCeJve

To keep your site safe, this link will expire in 1 day. Don’t worry about that, though: a new link will be emailed to you if the error occurs again after it expires.

When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:
WordPress version 5.8
Current theme: Pro – Child Theme (version 1.0.0)
Current plugin: (version )
PHP version 7.0.33

Hi @KeithatStorm,

The mentioned issue is mostly reported due to the PHP version, I would suggest you update the Pro into the latest version i.e. 4.3.3 and PHP version to 7.4, and check if that problem is resolved or not. If that does not help, please check Tools > Site Health and resolve the critical issue if anything is listed.
If none of the above helps, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Hi Tristup
I asked 20i.com support to look at the PHP issue and they have advised me that it’s now set to 7.4. The health screen is showing 7.4 too. I’m going to try to update the theme and see how it goes. I’ll let you know.
All the best
Keith

Hi Keith,

I have checked your website and found that the PHP version is updated to 7.4 but you are still using the Pro version 4.3.1 which is not the latest. I would suggest you update the Pro to its latest version i.e. 4.3.3 and let us know if you still facing a similar issue.

NOTE: The mentioned issue is not found on your website, still I would request you to update the theme to its latest.

Thanks

Hi Tristup
I have just updated the theme version to 4.3.3 and it did not create a problem this time. The PHP version issue seems to have been the cause and it now all seems to be resolved. Thank you for your help.
Best regards
Keith
