Updating saved templates

Hello Themeco,

In the old days we used dreamweaver templates to easily build webpages from scratch. A great and powerfull feature of these templates was the ability to update these template whereas al the webpages using this template were updated in a fly.

Is this possible in X (not using Pro)?

Or is it in development? If so… are we on the right track by using the .csl preset templates for now or is this going away and will you be using other files to accomplish this.

Friendly regards,

Marathon

Hi There,

On Cornerstone you have the templates functionality, you cannot update the templates but you can remove the old ones and save new ones…

Does that help?

Let us know, thanks!

Hi Joao,

I know, but we are working on a site with a fast growing number of pages. For that matter we all create our pages from templates (.csl pages) If the client wants a change in the near future it is important for us that we can make the change once and it will be implemented on all pages (30, 50). Like our previous site made with .dwt dreamweaver templates.

In your new status report of july 28 your team speaks of:

Template Manager

The revamped template manager will be coming right after V2 Elements, and as a quick reminder this will be a new way to create, save, and export your headers, content, footer, and preset templates in Pro (for all builders) and your content and preset templates in X (for Cornerstone). We’ll explain more about this later, but we are looking very forward to this feature being completed as it will complete our initial vision for Pro. After V2 Elements and the Template Manager, I’ll begin to share some of our other development plans for X and Pro.

Is this “template update” option on your team’s task list for 2017 or not? It would be a great feature for sites with a lot of pages. Our client asks for it

Friendly regards, Marathon

Hi There,

Now I understand what you mean.

Once the template is implemented it is technically no longer a template, it is just a page

There is no native solution, BUT, there is a plugin developed by one of our users which will help you with that, I personally never used but just heard good things about it.

Hope it helps!

Hi Joao,

Thank you for your quick relply
Is this something that wil be developped by the themeco team in the near future also? It’s a very powerfull feature to attract clients with bigger sites (with 50 pages or more). It would be a great addition to the .csl template feature.

I looked at the “global blocks” option but it is based on the “elements” feature. Not the .csl-way :frowning:
In the long term we also have a bigger confidence of a themeco integration with a whole team and wide support who created cornerstone from bottom up

We will be further creating pages with .csl for now. Fingers crossed that the update feature will follow ;).

Thank you for your assistance.

Friendly regards, Marathon

Hi Marathon,

Well, I dont understand really what you are looking for I guess…

because once you have implemented the template on the page it is no longer a csl…

While the global block will allow you to upgrade 50 pages at the same time in just one place, if you believe you have a good idea, please explain in details and we will put on the feature request list.

I don´t see how would be possible to upgrade a saved template without re-saving, you could have a overwrite function, but deleting and saving again is not too much of work, so I don´t think so this will be among the priorities.

Looking forward to hear you.

Cheers!
