Updating old site running 3.2.3

I have a site which was set up with X a few years ago, its always worked fine until now I have a problem with the editor not working so I tried manually installing Visual composer but this doesn’t work properly . I have just checked my licences and I note that the site in question is still linked to the staging server. I updated this to the correct URL, but now in the site admin validation its not showing as valid although it was before. I need to get this site updated to the latest version to resolve all the problems I am having. Firstly where do I find the activation code? I tried copying the licence number but it says invalid?

Hey @appletreeweb,

The license validation needs to be fixed first so you can update our products if you need to. To get to your licenses, click on Dashboard below your forum avatar/profile then click on the Single Licenses option on the Dashboard page.

Next, click the site under your license and update the Location and Staging URL exactly as what’s set in the WordPress URL and Site URL in Settings > General of your site.

Once the license is fixed, perform all the potential solutions mentioned in our Common Issues article here https://theme.co/docs/common-issues

Only if none of the solutions help, give us the following info in a Secure Note.

  • WordPress Login URL
  • Admin level username and password
  • Web host cPanel access

thanks for your reply. I have repointed the licence so its to my live site however when I go into the wordpress site and x-theme validation - I tried copying the licence number but it won’t accept it in the API key bit? How do I get an API key for the site?

Hello @appletreeweb,

API key has been deprecated already. You must have been using a legacy theme. We recommend that you update your theme manually. Please check out this documentation guide here:
