Updated theme and cornerstone and embeded videos stopped working

Hello,

I have updated to latest version cornerstone and x theme and all plugins and etc without any errors and all my video plaerys in the website turned into “classic video player”, and all stopped working. They worked as embeeded code from my vimeo account which had permissions to embedd on my domain, now when i try with the new video player, only embedding works, but says because of privacy settings i cannot embedd on my website.

Is there a way to make everything work again?

Thank you,
Sebastian

Hello @tipul01,

Thanks for writing in and sorry to hear that you seem to be having some issues. As with all support requests, we always ask that users provide us with a URL to the pages in question so that we can have something to see in person and hopefully give some better feedback from that. Since we don’t have that, I’ll have to work off a few assumptions.

  • Back around X v5.2.0 and Cornerstone v2.1.0, we migrated our “v2 Elements” that were present in Pro’s Header and Footer Builders into the Content Builder as well. Because of this, we needed a way to distinguish between these new and old Elements, as they are quite different in how they function. The previous Elements are now referred to as “Classic Elements,” while the newer Elements are simply what we refer to as “Elements” or “v2 Elements.” You mentioned that your videos turned into “Classic Video Players,” which is effectively just a labeling change. It is the same Video Player that you’re used to using, just with a different name due to these new elements coming in. Because of this, nothing should have fundamentally changed with the way these Elements on your website function. If you still have a page present with a video in the “Classic Video Player,” please provide us with a link so we can see it live and try to diagnose what might be going on.
  • You mentioned trying the new video player. This new Video Element supports both embedding and self-hosted audio all at once. The very first option in that builder is a toggle to choose between “Embed” or “Player,” which you can adjust as needed. Again, if you have a page using the new Video Element now, we’d need a URL to see something live so we can provide any further feedback than this.
  • Because nothing fundamentally changed with your old videos (just the name update), I’m thinking what likely happened is you have some type of conflict with some plugins you’ve updated, or there’s some type of caching error happening. If you have any sort of plugins active on your site, you can try deactivating them one by one and checking your video embeds to see if they start up again. Also, if you have any caching going on (browser cache, plugin caches, CDNs, et cetera), clear all of those whenever you update to ensure that you work to avoid any potential mismatches of markup, styles, and scripts.

Hopefully that helps to point you in the right direction. If you find that the suggestions mentioned above do not get your videos up and running, please write back to us and make sure to provide us with live URLs so we can further diagnose the situation at hand.

Thanks!

Hello,

I ended up replacing every classic video element with the new video element and using the embed feature.
Everything works now, except my next/previous arrows that are not clickable now and i am trying to find out why and how to enable them:slight_smile:
Thanks!

Hey Sebastian,

I have checked your site which is attached to your license. I can see that everything is working fine now.

For the next/previous arrows, it is not clickable because it is behind the layer content. To resolve this, please update your css and use this:

.x-nav-articles {
    position: absolute;
    bottom: 0;
    right: 0;
    z-index: 999999;
}

Hope this helps. Please let us know how it goes.

Hello,

Thank you so much! Works now.

You’re welcome!
We’re glad we were able to help you out.
