Update to X 5.2.2 - No text displays either classic or new

I have been trying to update to X 5.x for several months now along the way to update to Pro. However, every time I have attempted the update to X 5, all of the text fields on my site do not display either in the Cornerstone editor or on the live pages. I even add a new text field and it does not display either in the editor or in the live page. Interesting enough, the any text in a classic block quote does display correctly. There are other issues as well such as all accordions not displaying any text. Also the text on tab headers does not display.

I originally thought SiteGround might be the problem as there seem to be many issues there. So I ported the entire site to a testing are on Ace Host, then did the upgrade to X 5.2.2 and all of the issues remain.

Running X 5.2.2, Cornerstone 2.1.3, Wordpress 4.8.2

I have tried to the normal fixes of deactivating all plugins to see if one was causing a conflict and removing all custom CSS. Even with no plugins (except Cornerstone) and zero custom CSS, the issue continues.

I would really appreciate your help in resolving this issue so I can finally update the site from X 4.6.4 to Pro.

For grins, I changed the theme from X to WP 2016. Amazingly enough all of the disappeared text now shows up. The formatting of course is all wrong, but the text, accordions and tab headers now have text in them. Not sure if this helps diagnose the issue, but it is one more piece of information.

Hi Cecil ,

I am getting this error: Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token , and it points to a CSS file inside Cornerstone plugin.
Would you mind reinstalling Cornerstone? Go to Plugins deactivate and delete Cornerstone. Visit X theme homepage so it will be installed automatically again. Then check again after that.

Did as requested. Deactivated then deleted Cornerstone. Went to X Theme Home/Overview page. Cornerstone was re-installed automatically. Unfortunately, the same issues remain.

Hello There,

Thanks for updating in! I have logged in to your site and tested Cornerstone. I can confirmed that the text element does not display in the latest. This is also an on going bug in the latest release. A fix release is already in beta testing as we speak. It will be release in a few days from now. I would recommend that you do not update just yet. We will have to make sure that it is stable enough before you update to avoid anymore conflicts or other issues.

Please bear with us. Thank you for the understanding.

Thanks for investigating. I will await the next release to do further testing. Once it is released I will test again and update the results on this ticket.

Thank you very much for your understanding.

Just updated to X 5.2.3 CS 2.1.4. All of the same problems still exist. Whatever is causing the problem has not been resolved. It is also not the hosting provider as I have the same problem on SiteGround, ThemeCo and Ace-Net.

Any help / guidance would be much appreciated.

Hello There,

I have been investigating the issue in your site. I have re installed WordPress Core and Cornerstone. I was even trying to re install X theme. So I went ahead and deleted X theme. I wanted to re install it by uploading the theme myself. I have not known that the filesize of x.zip is way beyond the file upload limit. So now I am left with no choice but to reach out to you to please re install X theme. I am suspecting that there are files that were corrupted which might have contributed to this issue. By the way, I enabled under maintenance page so that users will be prompted that the site is not available at the moment.

And if possible, please provide us ftp access so that we can investigate further in case re installing X theme will not resolve the issue.

Thank you in advance.

X 5.2.3 and CS 2.1.4 are now installed. The issues still remain.

Hi,

I found what is causing it.

Your entry content text was set to a zero font-size which makes all text invisible.

To fix it, navigate to Appearance > Customize > Typography and add a font size to your Content Font size Field

Yep. That was the problem. Might I suggest that these values default to 1 rather than null in a future update or at least make it prominent in the release notes. I’ve read all of them and didn’t see anything about needing to change this setting. If it was there and I missed it, then bad on me. Otherwise…

Noted that, but it could also reset by some updates especially when some data naming is changed. Hence, may need to check it manually on some occasion.

Thanks!
