Update to use <!--nextpage--> with Table of Contents

I am trying to use the Table of Contents shortcode with the <!--nextpage--> tag in a page and I am unable to add any content after the <!--nextpage--> tag. Anything I enter after it appears on the same page instead of the next page, which is blank. Any ideas?
