Update - staging and location

Good morning,

I have a question. In our dashboard we have inserted:

Automatic theme updates (WordPress> Panel Themes> click on update theme) are only present in staging, not in location.
How can we have automatic updates on both sites (location and staging)? It’s possibile?

There might be a few different reasons for this issue, I would suggest you troubleshoot the common issues are related to the Product Validation

  1. Location Issues
  2. Communication Error Messages

In your case it might be the location with the slash is the reason, I would suggest you remove the slash and check once if the Automatic update comes.
If none of the above helps, and you are still getting the issue on validation, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

we made some changes in the dashboard.
I changed the url of our website from https://www.opensymbol.it (on location) to www.opensymbol.it (on location), but I don’t see any changes.
How can I solve? Can I make other changes?

Hi Federica,

I would suggest you match the Location URL with the Website URL and Site Address of Settings > General.

If that does not resolve the issue, I would like to suggest troubleshoot the following common issue to help us to recognize the reason.

1.Plugin Conflict
2.Child Theme Related issue
3.CSS/JS Customization
4.Disabling Cache

we made some changes on the dashboard. In particular, we wrote www.opensymbol.it in location and staging.

It’s correct? When will the changes be visible in WordPress? In a few hours? Tomorrow?

Yes, it is correct. You can also leave the location empty then validate your website and it will also automatically detect the website URL.

thanks for the reply. If I log into WordPress (location) and I click on Dashboard > Updates > Themes, I don’t see the available X Theme update.
How long do I have to wait to be able to see it?

Hi Federica,

Please navigate to Dashboard > Updates and press the Check again button, this will force the WordPress to check for updates (including theme updates).

If that still did not work, please revoke the validation and revalidated the X again, then do the Check again again to force WP to check update.

If that did not work still, please deactivate and uninstall Cornerstone first. then reinstall it, the admin dashboard should give the notice to re-install the Cornerstone, reinstall the Cornerstone, it should have the version 5.1.5 which is compatible with your X version (8.1.5). Do the Check again if you see an update for X, then update X first, then update Cornerstone second.

Hi,

I clicked on Dashboard > Update and I pressed the check again button but I don’t see any changes. Do I have to wait some time?

Now we have:

  • Theme X: 8.1.5 version

  • Cornersone: 5.3.3 version (compatible with my X version 8.1.5)

I would like to update the X theme to version 8.3.3.
So, can I revoke the validation (and then I revalidated the X again )and do the check again? Do you advise me to backup our site before proceeding?

Hi Federica,

You can see the Update Notice in the Appearance > Themes at the top of the theme image as shown in the screenshot. You can click on that link to update the theme. I would suggest you follow the below steps while updating the X theme.

  1. Delete the existing Cornerstone plugin
  2. Update the X theme to the latest version on automatic updates
  3. After the X theme is updated, use the link in the dashboard to automatically install the Cornerstone. It will be at the latest version

If you are not able to see the Update Notice as shown in the screenshot, please delete and deactivate the X theme and re-install it by downloading from your Themeco Account by following the above steps.

We removed the staging URL

Anyway we are not able to see the Update Notice as shown in your screenshot.

The last time, for the last update done in February, we didn’t delete and deactivate the X theme and re-install it by downloading from your Themeco Account .

Can we fix a web call and you lead us for the update?
