Update ruins my site

Hi updating to X version 5 completely messes up the site. All plugins are also updated. Please let me know what to do.

Thanks.

Hi There,

Would you mind providing us with login credentials(by clicking on the Secure Note button at the bottom) so we can take a closer look? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:

  • Link to your site
  • WordPress Admin username / password
  • FTP credentials

Thanks.

Hi,

We’ve put it into a staging site and ran the update and it seems to be okay. It’s still slow, however and not passing a google performance test. I’ve added the login details to the secure note.

I’m having the issues listed on the screenshots as well.

Please let me know how this can be resolved.

Thanks

Actually, I’ve enlisted godaddy support, so you don’t have to look into it right now. I’ll let you know what they say and I’ll get back to you in a couple days. As of now, please don’t change anything on the site.

Thank you

Hi There,

Sure, let us know how it goes.

Thanks!

Hi,

So GoDaddy didn’t help at all. They just told me the same thing that Google PageSpeed Insights tells me about optimizing photos and js and things like that. But what I can’t understand is that none of that was a problem before the theme update.

Now, I’ve just updated X theme and Cornerstone and the site is totally broken again.

Please see the screenshot.

Please help as soon as possible. Thank you.

For reference, it should look like this:

Hi again,

I did some testing and there were two issues I found, files were served from the cache and you’ve customization in your Child Theme which is conflicting with the latest version of the theme. I went ahead and deactivated Autoptimize plugin and your Child Theme then flushed the cache and everything seems to be working as expected now. For now I’ve activated the parent theme for you to check, please review your Child Theme files and remove the problematic customization you’ve made in there.

Please clear your browser’s cache and reload the site.

Cheers!

Thanks a bunch. How do I know what’s wrong with the child theme? Because the parent theme doesn’t have all the css that I need.

Hi again,

There might be an issue with PHP file, you can test the files one by one by removing it from your Child Theme. You can activate the child theme first and then perform the testing. Make sure to take the backup first before removing an piece of code or a file.

Hope this helps!
