Update: Cornerstone not saving and getting logged out

When trying to update my website Cornerstone would not save my edits and I would eventually get logged out of Wordpress. I tried troubleshooting the theme and plugins cleared the cache nothing seemed to work.

Hi Stephanie,

Thanks for reaching out.
It seems that you are using the Content Area element to show the Image and added the image src path in the wrong way, which is the reason behind the broken image. I would suggest you use the Image element instead.

I have also found that the Cornerstone is hunged up while trying to add any element by searching. The issue you are having might be due to the incompatibility between X and Cornerstone. I would suggest you follow the below steps while updating the X theme and the Cornerstone.

  1. Delete the Cornerstone
  2. After the X theme is updated, use the link in the dashboard to automatically install the Cornerstone. It will be at the latest version

If that does not resolve your issue, there might be some different reason behind your reason, I would like to suggest troubleshoot the following common issue to help us to recognize the reason.

1.Plugin Conflict
2.Theme Update related issue
3.Child Theme Related issue
4.CSS/JS Customization

Thanks

I have reached back out to WordPress support, this is their response. They are still having the same issues I have had, including getting logged out of WordPress after a short time. My main concern right now is being able to edit the headline on my home page.

Mladen is here from the GoDaddy WordPress Premium Support team.

I checked your website srtgraphicdesign.com and do the steps that theme support recommended but that didn’t resolve the issue.

Also, note that I tested your website just using the X theme and Cornerstone plugin so there is no chance of theme of plugin conflict that theme support suggested I their response.
Please reach out to them again and provide this information.

Mean while I will put this ticket on the pending status and wait for your reply.

Kind Regards,
Mladen

Hello Mladen,

Go to Tools > Site Health > Status. Please resolved the Performance issue first.

There is an error 403 when you edit the About page. Usually, error 403 means it’s being blocked by the server-side firewall or mod_security ruleset, however, as Cornerstone works on other pages this is unlikely unless you have JS/CSS being executed in a raw content element or perhaps other shortcodes from 3rd party plugins that don’t execute on other pages?

As there’s a 403 error, there should be additional information available in your server error log if you could check that and let us know the full error.

Thanks!

WordPress support has reached back out, I have attached their response in a secure message. They mention their may be a permissions issue.

Hello Stephanie,

We will always support the PHP and MySQL supported by WordPress, but we do not recommend using legacy versions as they can lead to poor performance and security vulnerabilities. Please check out this link:

Best Regards.

Hello,
Since the issue on my home page is not getting resolved I created a new home page, published on 5/6/2021. Could you please assist with the appearance of this page? Section 1 is not showing up- it is a headline with a purple background.

Thank you,
Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,

I have checked your given URL and found the problem you mentioned. I have saved the page as a template and load that on a page, it works perfectly fine. It might be due to the improper up-gradation of the Cornerstone plugin.

I would suggest you follow the steps in previous comments while updating to the latest version of the theme.

Thanks
