Unwanted warning over and over

Look, it’s a nice safety feature to warn of unsaved changes but when I have to keep assuring the application I want to do something its GD annoying. Why do I have to deal with this:

Can this be stopped?

And then there’s this:

ANd then this that’s unbeleivably difficult to manage.

Look I’m really getting put off by the amount of effort required to do fundamental design tasks. This app has not made anything easier - it’s introduced complications and time sucking interface flaws.

Hello James,

Please check out my video screencast that will show you about the widget, widget ares, and the widget area element. It will also show you how you can assign widgets and the widget area into the widget area element that you added into your page.

Hope this helps.

Hello Rue!

It was very kind of you to make such a vid! I learned a great deal. I think a major source of cnfusion is the convention of calling additional widget areas ‘sidebars’. As I understan from the demo that’s only a nominal and in fact sidebars can be located anywhere in the content area. I also noticed an option when creating a widget area - fixed menu

That opens up another interesting design path.

Again, thanks very much for you focused help. I would think your vid would be very usefull for many others. Have a great weekend!

Avery

Hey James,

Originally, the widget areas were built by WordPress for the sidebar area. It is most commonly known as sidebar widgets area. As the years past, theme developers find it useful and to make it flexible, they’ve added the widget areas in the footer and the header areas. It is called sidebars because behind the process of creating the widget area, it still uses the “register_sidebar()” function which is built in within WordPress.

Hope this explains why it is named as Sidebars and not Widget Areas.
