Unexpected header item after upgrade

I’ve been using the X theme for several years. Today after upgrading to 10.5.9, there is a small black X inside a triangular tab in the upper right of my site, visible on every page. Clicking on the X causes an empty box to slide down over the page header.

There were no changes to our theme settings recently. I can’t find out what this is or how I can remove it.

Hi Jeffrey,

Thanks for reaching out.
I have checked all sites listed in your Themeco Account but didn’t find the issue you described here. It will be very difficult to recognize the exact reason without investigation. I would suggest you, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Thanks Tristup. I’ve put the URL and further description in a secure note as you suggested. I think you will see what I mean.
If you want, I can provide screenshots as well, but I’m not sure that will be necessary.

I figured it out. In the theme options “Widget Bar” was set to 2 even though I didn’t use any widgets. I set it to none and the triangle went away. I don’t understand why this was triggered by the upgrade, but it is ok now.

Hey Jeffrey,

I think the Theme Option values needs to be checked after the updates which could be why as you set it to “None” it went away. Thanks for letting us know that it is now resolved.

Cheers.
