I have been unable to make the Under Construction plugin work. It just ends up causing too many redirects and I get a browser error. Please advise.

After further investigation, I can confirm that there is an on going redirection when you enable the under construction plugin. This happened because you have created a page and set it as you home page. At the same time, this page is also set as your under construction page. I would highly suggest that you create a custom page for your under construction page or unassign the home page as your “Front Page” in settings, Settings > Reading > Front Page Displays.

I had this issue on spin up. I literally spun up the site, installed the theme, installed the plugins and turned on UNDER CONSTRUCTION and got the redirect error. So…I’m not so sure about this solution.
Same exact issue. I’m telling you - I was even getting this issue out of the box (without a static page set as my primary page). Please advise.

Your site has an existing redirect from somewhere else and the under construction plugin has its own redirect too. And that caused multiple redirects issue.
It’s like the plugin is redirecting it to the designated page, but another existing redirect is redirecting it back to home page URL. Maybe this is rewrite related, I tried installing a debug plugin but it won’t let me. Would you mind providing your FTP login credentials as well?
You can only use the under construction plugin if you/we can determine where is the second redirect coming from.

Pantheon is the host - I just enabled SFTP - so go ahead and install whatever plugin you need.

I checked the code directory but I could not find any redirect there. There is no .htaccess file regarding this.
You will need to consult your server admin to see why this is happening. If you are using the Apache web server a normal .htaccess file for Wordpress can be found here:

nginx. as any fyi this instance is only a few plugins removed from an out of the box pantheon spinup of Wordpress…so that’s a tad odd.

I’m using the Pro theme and was having the same issue.
After some extensive troubleshooting I found that the cookie “tco_under_construction_bypass” is the culprit. I just had the host setup an exclusion for it and now it works fine.
