Unable to Upgrade X past version 7.2.3

I’ve tried several attempts at upgrading X theme past version 7.2.3 and have had no luck. Everything installs correctly but my website will not display anything once upgrading to X version 8.x.x (doesn’t matter which version of 8). Right now, I’m stuck running version 7.2.3 because it’s the only version that works.

All plug-ins are up to date and I’m also running the latest version of WordPress (version 5.7, which was just released 3/9/2021).

I’m not sure if this is a WordPress issue or a server-side issue, such as which version of PHP the server has installed (currently it’s 7.4). My PHP memory limit is 512 MB.

When changing to a WordPress default theme, the website will load in that theme.

I really am at a loss as to what do to next here. Everything is updated on the webpage except the theme (no out of date plugins, etc.). Any ideas?

Hello Mark,

Thank you for the very detailed information. Please make sure that you have updated the WordPress core, theme and plugins. Our latest versions are:

  • X theme 8.2.3
  • Cornerstone 5.2.3
  • WordPress 5.7
  • PHP 7.4

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog:

After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

I am running all the latest versions of WordPress and PHP (did have to upgrade the database but did that BEFORE posting here to no avail). I do use WP SuperCache and cleared it (although I believe it was empty).

I ended up discovering that Cornerstone was out of date and for whatever reason, was not auto-updating. I updated Cornerstone after reinstalling the latest version of X and all is now working.

Thanks for the help!

Glad to hear that, Mark!
