Unable to Update to Latest Version of Cornerstone without Breaking Site

Hi There,

I use Xtheme / Cornerstone on 5 different websites and am unable to update Cornerstone or Xtheme to the latest versions on any of the websites without breaking them.

• On all of the websites the popup modals are broken if we update the theme / cornerstone.
• One of the websites the Page builder is displaying the webpages very strangely.

I have tested for plugin conflicts but am unable to find any issue with them.

Would it be possible to have someone take a look? I have backed up all the websites so you can update the theme and see how it effects the Pop up modals.

Thanks for reaching out.
There might be a different reason behind that, I would suggest you follow the below steps while update the X theme and the Cornerstone.

1. Delete the existing Cornerstone
2. Update the X theme to the latest version on automatic updates
3. After the X theme is updated, use the link in the dashboard to automatically install the Cornerstone. It will be at the latest version

If that does not help, I would like to suggest troubleshoot the following common issue to help us to recognize the reason.

1.Theme Update related issue
2.Child Theme Related issue ** if you have activated it.
3.CSS/JS Customization
4.Disabling Cache
5.Disabling CDN

If you discover that an issue is coming from a custom code or 3rd party plugin, kindly consult with a developer or contact the plugin author. Please note that we do not provide support for custom codes and 3rd party plugins.

If none of the above works and you are still getting the issue, please copy any of your live sites to a staging server so we could troubleshoot freely without breaking your live site.
And give us access in the secure note including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password
– FTP/CPanel credentials to access the files

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

We’re getting ready to push the first point release to automatic updates which corrects a few minor issues, but doesn’t have fixes for anything you’re describing. I’m not sure what would cause issues with popups/modals but would be happy to check for you.

Keep an eye for the first point release in the next couple hours, then if you don’t mind, could you post login credentials to one of your sites in a secure note? I can login to take a closer look. It would be best if we could see the site running X 9.0.1 and Cornerstone 6.0.1

Hi Alexander, thank you for the message. I am going to back up one of the websites and try installing the latest updates and will see if it works this time.

I have a website that we aren’t currently using it is the identical install and plugins to all my other sites so if the latest updates don’t fix the issues we can use that one as a staging site. Will be in touch soon.
