Unable to swap licences between two sites

Hi.

I would like to swap licenses between a site that was built five years ago using X and a new one that is about to be built. The reason is that the old site has a Pro licence, which I would like to use on the new one. Unfortunately, I have been unable to validate my newly purchased X licence on the old site because it uses X theme version 4.0.4 and validation procedure has apparently changed since then.

Please note that I am NOT WILLING to update the old site’s theme to a newer version because that would break the layout (tested and confirmed) and I do not want to spend hours fixing something, which works fine as it is.

Hi Ivaylo,

Thanks for reaching out.

If you’re not planning on updating it, then you don’t need to validate it. Plus, 4.0.4 is a very old version where its current validation process doesn’t work with our latest validation system, hence, in order for the validation to work, you’ll have to install X 5+ and latest version first, but that again is the same as updating it.

Thanks!

Hi, Rad.

Thank you for answering. Unfortunately, I cannot detach the licence from the old site either. I have assigned the licences the way I wish in my account settings; however, when I try to validate the older licence on the new site I get a message saying “Your code is valid but looks like it has already been used on another site. You can revoke and re-assign within your Themeco account.”

Hi @ivaylo,

The revocation should have no limit, you can detach it anytime from your old site. Have you tried clicking revoke from your old site and it fails? If yes, then please provide a screenshot of the message. Then you can just re-assign the new URL to your licenses within your Themeco account, then validate it.

And please provide the URL of the new site, and the license it’s supposed to be validated. Please provide them in the secure note so we can verify if the assigned URL versus the actual site’s installation URL is exactly the same.

Thanks!

There is no such option in version 4.0.4.

Hi @ivaylo,

Please ignore the old site, you don’t have to revoke nor validate it, and there and no need for an update since you prefer it that way.

Your new site is not validating since you assigned the wrong URL. Please check the secure note.

Thanks!

Thank you very much, Rad!

For anyone else reading this: the validation did not work because WP was installed in a subdirectory. That was solved once I added that to the URL in my account settings.

You’re welcome!
We’re glad @Rad were able to help you out.
