I am currently using the Ethos stack. I wish to have my blog page look like the demo theme (Agency) where the posts are excerpts rather than full articles. I have tried to adjust the theme options, under Blog, including disabling ‘full post content on index’. This has not worked. I want excerpts for both my blog page and category pages. Please kindly assist!

Thanks for writing in! The setting in the Theme Options > Blog which you have mentioned is the only setting that will resolve your issue. It may not be displaying because of caching. Since you have installed a caching plugin W3 Total Cache, please clear your plugin cache before testing your site. This can cause the changes to not take place on the front end. It will eventually show up when the cache regenerates, but it’s not ideal if you’re looking to see your changes immediately. Caching plugins are best to turn on only when you’ve finished building the site.

Thank you for your swift response.
I have tried clearing the cache as well as disabling all of my plugins. Nothing seems to work. I have delete the theme options CSS, tried a new browser, changed around the blog options (masonry works), but they do not give me the result I want, which is to have excerpts of posts, similar to the demo theme Agency’s news page.
Will you be able to take a look at my backend and see if you can find the issue?
This is the only time I have asked for help on the forum in the many years that I have used X theme. I can’t seem to find the answer this time.

In that case, please provide your site’s URL and admin login credentials in a secure note. For the meantime, please change your blog and archive style to standard instead of masonry.
Excerpts are not applicable for Masonry type layout.

The settings are not taking effect, it could be due to host cache itself or database optimization. Are you able to create a staging of your site? Some host has the staging feature, and there, we can disable some plugins and with no cache.
As of now, I can confirm that the setting set in Theme Options Blog setting isn’t taking effect.

I have set the site under maintenance mode (don’t disable the coming soon plugin). Will it be enough? Otherwise I will check with my host to see if there is such an issue. In the meantime, with the site under maintenance mode, you can disable the plugins and cache to find out the problem.

I’m able to find the issue and it’s coming from your child theme. And it’s due to custom template in your child theme named _content-the-excerpt.php. And it displays the_content() instead of excerpt. Please delete that file from folder /wp-content/themes/x-child/framework/views/global/.
