Unable to edit pages in Cornerstone

When I try to open a page with Cornerstone in my X themed Wordpress it starts to open the page under following URL:
https://livestream.watch/cst/#/content/2937

It takes a moment of loading, then the ID disappears, and I am in a Cornerstone content overview und following URL:
https://livestream.watch/cst/#/content

I already deleted Cornerstone and auto reinstalled the latest version, flushed browser and Wordpress cache. Nothing helped. I’m using X version 5.2.5 with Cornerstone 2.1.7. The environment is a Multisite.

Hi @seb666_de,

Thanks for writing in.

To resolve your issue, please go to Settings > Permalinks and set it to “Post Name”. Save your changes and test Cornerstone again.

Please let us know how it goes.

If still not working, please share us your admin credentials so we could check your setup closer.

Don’t forget to set it in a secure note.

Thanks.

Hi @nico,

first of all: I don’t want to change my Permalink structure. And it did work that way until some days ago. But I changed it for testing purpose and it didn’t help.

Hi Seb,

Right now, I could see two possible third party conflict. Jetpack and a redirect plugin.

It would also be best to clear all caches again and deactivate WP Super Cache or best to completely uninstall it while this is not solved so we’re sure there’s no caching involved. See the complete uninstallation guide here.

Thanks.

Hi Christian,

thanks for looking. I had all the plugins installed and Cornerstone worked until Version 2.1.6 … My page depends on caching, because it’s really slow without. I will have a look into that.

Seb

Ok, just checked and disabling of WP Supercache helped. Now that’s really bad, because last week Cornerstone worked with my cached page and I really need caching on my site…

Any idea how to dig further…?

Hi Seb,

We only advice to purge caching plugin/features to make sure that the site is not giving us a cached version of a page/resources (before update). You can enable back your caching plugin so it can re-generate a new cache data.

Thanks,

Yes, but I cannot edit pages while running the SuperCache Plugin. Disabling to edit may be a workaround but not a long term solution…

Hello There,

We always recommend that you clear your caching plugin, and disable it during development. This can cause Customizer or any site changes to not take place on the front end or even when using Cornerstone. It will eventually show up when the cache regenerates, but it’s not ideal if you’re looking to see your changes immediately. Caching plugins are best to turn on only when you’ve finished building the site.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

your may have recommendations, but my complaint is, that until the last update everything worked as intended and now I need to deactivate the caching plugin, just to edit a page… But it seems I have to live with that…

Seb

Hi there,

The cache is against change, and because of that, cache probably still contains the old files from your old version. And when it’s active, it serves the old files while your site is already running on the latest version. And that’s where the conflict is, you should make sure the cache is purged and cleaned after every update or change you made. You must also turn off CSS and Javascript minification if you’re on CloudFlare.

Thanks!
