Unable to create sidebar for single page

Hello-
I would like to create a sidebar for the Home page only. My default template is Fullwidth. I changed the template for the Home page to Layout-Content left, sidebar right, added a sidebar and selected the Home page to show that sidebar, but the sidebar is not displayed. The only way I can get the sidebar to show is to change the default template, then change the other pages to fullwidth - obviously too time consuming.

Can you take a look and tell me what I’m missing? (Sending credentials in a secure note).

The correct way is to change the default template, then change the other pages to fullwidth. But since you have already set up your pages, you can add a sidebar to your homepage by adding the code below in your child theme’s functions.php file

Is that because it’s not possible to use different templates other than the default for individual pages in PRO? I have a site using X where I’m able to assign different templates to different pages. Really simple. Bummer workaround for PRO. Is it due to the builder working differently and it’s just not possible?

Hi @minnow470,

It’s because you have set your default template as full width under Theme Options > Layout and Design
The page template will only work if you have set your default to have a sidebar. This is just the way the theme was designed to work. As you have stated the correct way should have been to change the default template, then change the other pages to fullwidth but since you have many pages that was already set I have provided a code to achieve what you want without changing every page template.

Paul, thank you for the code. Unfortunately, I’m not getting it to work. I have the default template still set to Fullwidth, and have tried setting the Home page template to both Fullwidth and Content-Left, Sidebar-Right.
