Hi Craig,
Sorry for the confusion earlier — it looks like the image in my previous reply didn’t load properly. From what I can see, you’re trying to add a background color to the dropdown , and for that, the custom CSS suggested by my colleague is the only solution.
Thanks
I can only imagine that my description is not clear enough. No, I’m not trying to add colour to a drop down and I’m not trying to add any fancy functionality. I can only ask, please carefully read all I am about to say.
Just over a week ago the language widget on my website, www.found.rest was showing a transparent background, coloured font, and was utilizing a font larger than the current font. If you take a look at my website now, the language widget has a white background, black font, and small size font. Again I am NOT talking about the dropdown on the widget, I am talking about the widget as it displays on the website when not selected. And again, if you goto the website, www.found.rest, this is CLEARLY visible on the header on the left hand side.
Something has gone wrong to cause this. Just over a week ago it WASN’T like this. Again, just over a week ago this widget without being selected, displayed with a transparent background, and a coloured and larger font. I would like this STANDARD functionality to work again. I don’t know why it isn’t.
Again, the problem is I cannot return the widget to the way it was. I am unable to change the background colour/transparency of the unselected widget, and I can not change the font size or colour. I have no idea why. I’m asking for someone who understands this platform to help identify the problem. I DO NOT need special code, I DO NOT need testing, I just need a solution to fix something that was working but now is not.
I apologize for the capitals and repeated language. However I am frustrated that most of the people who respond are not stopping to understand the problem. If you can’t see the problem you can’t identify the solution. Please if I am still not clear on the issue, please ask. There are images and other messages further up the thread that show and explain the problem and there is a secure note giving site access.
Thanks in advance.
Hello Craig,
I checked the previous appearance of your header and this is what I found out:
It shows to have it like this:

ANd the current element structure of that Language Switcher is this:
It is totally a different element from the current Language Switcher, which is a Dropdown:

Maybe you have changed the Language Switcher widget settings, which have caused this issue:
You may play around with the widget settings, and you will notice a different display on the frontend.
Kindly let us know how it goes.
Hello
Thankyou so much! Whilst its not exactly how I want it, thankfully it is back to the way it was. Something so small - but with my level of knowledge (close to nothing) I couldn’t see why the result was not as previous. I can now work towards improving the appearance. Again, thank you!
You are most welcome, Craig.
