Uh Oh! Failed to Save - I Tried Several Fixes, But Can't Seem to Make it Work

Hi Support Team!

I’ve got a site that I manage that is built in Pro. Previously, it was made in X. After this last major update, each time I try to edit a header and save it, I get the dreaded “Uh Oh! Failed to Save” error. This is what I’ve done to try to address the problem:

  • I’ve disabled all plugins. That didn’t help.
  • I turned off all caching from my hosting provider.
  • I’m not using a CDN.
  • I went into Cornerstone > Settings > System and cleared the style cache.
  • I removed all the custom CSS from Cornerstone > Theme Options.
  • I’ve updated everything to the latest version.

None of these fixes have helped me so far. Can you kindly log in and see if you can figure out the problem? I’ll add a secure note with login credentials.

Hello @gavn8r,

Thanks for writing in! Please go to Tools > Site Health > Status, make sure that there are no Performance Issues. You must resolve any of these issues. You may need further assistance from your hosting provider.

If you wouldn’t mind, please switch to the parent theme. An issue may have come from your child theme. You can temporarily remove each of the custom PHP in your child theme’s functions.php file to figure out if it is indeed causing the issue.

Meanwhile, please enable the debug mode. You might be able to see an error message on the site right away. If not, the error log could reveal where the problem is originating.

Kindly let us know how it goes.

Thank you very much for your reply!

Per your suggestion, I changed from the child theme to the parent. When I went in and made a change to the header, it saved successfully. I then re-activated the child theme and commented out one fuction at a time until I was able to successfully save the header. The function that was causing the problem was “cartcount.”

I’ve permanently disabled that function and will find another solution.

Thanks again!
