Two Arabic Unicode Characters Not displaying properly

Hi Guys,

Great theme, congrats on the awesome work !

2 arabic characters are not displaying properly on a site.
They render correctly on MSWord, but on the site, they appear different.

arabic shadda (U+0651)
arabic ligature sallallahou alayhe wasallam (U+FDFA)
You can view them here: http://graphemica.com/

Can you please check, I have created login for you guys .

Thanks

Hey @teksol,

Thank you for your kind words. This could be a problem with the font though. We need to know if this is an issue with the theme so please first switch to the default WordPress theme and paste the same text. You will need to add your custom font to the default WordPress theme.

Thanks.

Thanks for your response.

I did as you recommended: switched to WP 2017 theme & it works fine. I have attached the snapshot.
The thing is that the client specially asked me if these characters will render well & I had tested locally and said yes. I also pushed them to go for X theme as I was not so happy with Avada & Enfold.

Please try to find a way out, I’d be really grateful.

Summary

Using WP Default 2017 theme on same site: https://ibb.co/WnMD2Rb
Using Avada theme on another test site: https://ibb.co/db2GjT0
Using Enfold theme on another test site: https://ibb.co/1R1YwkX

Hi,

Can you try adding .woff and .woff2 files of your font to the font manager as well.

For example

You may convert your .tff file on the link below

Hope that helps

Thanks Paul. It does help - the issue with the 2 unicode characters was solved.

But, using woff has created another issue - the font does not render well.

I’m using a ‘Nastaliq’ type font, such types have too many glyphs & are usually over 5 Mb in size to render well. I cannot use them on a website, so I am trying to use MehrNastaliqWeb & Google’s NotoNastaliq which are around 150kb in size - this is a huge achievement. The problem is that converting them to woff further reduces the size and maybe that’s why woff does not render well.

So, I guess woff is out of the question. Now, can we fix the characters issue with ttf ?

PS: Very quick support - Keep it up guys !

Hey,

I’m sorry but I’m a bit confused now. I activated X in your site and I can see your font is working correctly. It might be the woff version taking place but to test ttf’s issue with X as compared to other theme’s would you mind setting up a font family only using ttf and give us the URL of the page you’re testing so we could switch themes in your site and compare.

Thanks.

Sorry my bad.
I have done a fresh wp install, and then tested the ttf font file only with wp default theme, Enfold theme & X-theme.
Good news is that the characters issue is somehow magically solved.:grinning:
Now, the issue with the font’s rendering is somewhat there- should I open a new ticket for it ?
On Chrome: Wp Default is OK (except 1 issue), Enfold has no issue, X has some issue in the menu & logo text.
On Firefox, Enfold is not so smooth, but X is really bad.
All snapshots attached.
Thanks for your support.

Hi SYED,

In firefox, your custom font files isn’t loaded. I compared it to chrome where the font file is loaded correctly and it’s probably related to this https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2856502/css-font-face-not-working-with-firefox-but-working-with-chrome-and-ie.

And if possible I recommend contacting your hosting to configure it for you. I’m not sure why it works on Enfold, but I’m sure that your custom CSS for custom is added to theme’s custom CSS in which deactivates when you activate another theme.

Thanks!
