Trouble updating Mailchimp email form

Hello,

I’m having trouble getting an updated GDPR compliant email form to link to my website subscribe page. I made the new form in Mailchimp. How do I get that form to display? All I see is places to enter a WP generated shortcode, not anything for a mailchimp code. I’m using Cornerstone.

Thank you,
Laura

Hello Laura,

To add mailchimp code, you may use RAW content element. For complete guide, please do check this thread:

Hope this helps.

Hello, I have tried to follow the directions in this thread, without success. Mailchimp has given me a java script code to embed a sign up form as a pop up message. This form was edited in Mailchimp and conforms to new regulations. With a custom raw element selected, I added this in the content window.
I also tried it in the JS content window- no success. Here is the link to the test page - you can see the mailchimp embed code in the source… please advise. - PS, my name is JB and I’m helping Laura with this. we really appreciate your support.

Hey JB,

Thanks for writing in! Regretfully we cannot check the url of the page because it is in draft mode.
Could you please provide us access to your site so that we can investigate?

Regards.

I changed the page to public for you - and updated… - here’s the link again https://www.lauraletchingerart.com/template-3/ please let me know if you need login info in addition…

Hello There,

Thanks for providing the information. I have logged in and made a couple of changes. I even updated Cornerstone and the X theme to the latest versions. Still, the JS code did not work. I can replicate it in my local testing server. There are no error so I can conclude that there is something wrong with the JS code. Please double check in Mailchimp if this is the correct one. We might also need some assistance from Mailchimp for the code why it does not work.

Please let us know how it goes.

I am chatting with mailchimp now. I did find this link to a previous thread, but I also noticed that the user, in the end, did not use a pop up. so I doubt it worked. https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/how-do-i-add-the-javascript-code-from-mailchimp-for-subscriber-pop-up/13633/11 I will update this thread with advice from mail chimp.

Sure, let us know the input you get from Mailchimp.

MailChimp is telling me to shift to text only mode, and copy their code directly into the body of the page. as-is. It is still not working. I do not think they are familiar with Cornerstone.

Here is the last reply: Hey there JB, I wanted to thank you for waiting I was able to see that we are working with the list Laura Letchinger Art Email List and adding the popup form to the site https://www.lauraletchingerart.com/template-3/. While I have not come across your exact situation previously I am glad to look into this topic further for you.

Looking over your site I was able to see that you have put in the MailChimp form. I was able to copy it from your source code after viewing it and run it in https://jsbin.com which is a free HTML runner you can use. From here my test email was able to join the list.

I was also able to inspect the page and see that you have errors (https://cl.ly/2Y3o3X1T030V ) that will need to be addressed with an IT proffessional or an expert partnered with MailChimp at experts.mailchimp.com.

While we are experts in looking at the source code we are not trained in advance HTML coding here at MailChimp support and this is why you will want to reach out to an expert to make sure the site does not have these alerts.

I am not familiar with CoverPlug and would have to look for more information pertaining to it.

we have tested the pop up code and it works at jsbin.com . the problem is some kind of conflict in tagging, or java, or cornerstone. can we escalate this problem? Have logged 10 hours plus already on this… thank you… test page streamlined here. https://www.lauraletchingerart.com/template-3/ - pasted in Raw Content Area. not working… thank you. please check it out… error: “Synchronous XMLHttpRequest on the main thread is deprecated because of its detrimental effects to the end user’s experience. For more help http://xhr.spec.whatwg.org/

I am still working on this. I have edited the code as per another thread, and placed it in the JS Content pane. It works, though destroys the other formatting on the page*… Also might need a custom CSS so that it disables MailChimp’s 1 year “no show” ban - once this pop up has been seen. this is the post that helped me. However, Safari and Chrome seem to break the formatting in the background…I’m not sure why… still practicing on the “template 3” post linked above. *Although the pop up appeared to break the formatting in the background of the page at first… with clearing the cache - it seemed to resolve itself…

Hello There,

I am already seeing the popup form: http://prntscr.com/kbysn3

Does this resolve the issue? The broken formatting is because of your gap element having to have a -40 height. Please check it to zero or adjust it to a number corresponding the needed height for the page.

Please let us know how it goes.
