Translation footer PRO

Hi, I am looking for the best way to translate the footer. I always struggle with this.

The steps I did:

There is a Dutch site and English site.

  • created a footer in Dutch

  • made it global (see the dutch footer in both languages)

  • go to the English flag (in Footer mode)

  • there I see the Dutch footer

  • when i hover - it gives the option to translate:

But there I can only start with blank footer… there is no content.

Can you please explain to me what I do wrong?
Thanks.

Hi @lvandeemter,

Would you please kindly follow the steps below?

  • Make sure that you have WPML version 4.2.9 installed according to our Version Compatibility guide.
  • You have many licenses and I am not sure what is the website URL that you talk about. Please kindly make sure that you use Pro version 3.2.2, if not, please kindly update the theme.
  • Deactivate all the plugins except WPML to make sure there is no conflict causing the issue.
  • Clear cache before disabling your cache plugin if you have any.

kindly get back to us with the result of the steps above and URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard using the Secure Note functionality of the post to follow up the case if you still have problems.

Thank you.

Send the secure note above.

I deactivated all other plugins
cleared cache
updated PRO to 3.2.2.

I do have WPML version 4.3.6. -

Hey @lvandeemter,

You can now copy from existing new template after I have reset the permalinks by going to Settings > Permalinks and clicking the Save Changes button.

Regretfully, your current footer can only be translated separately because you might have used the Translation Flags already. I’d suggest that you try duplicating it then translate the duplicate using the Pro Translation Flags.

Thanks.

Yes this works! Thanks for you help. Can you please explain to me what that Settings>Permalinks>save changes does? So I can understand in stead of just copy a ‘trick’

Thanks for your help.

Hey @lvandeemter,

It resets the permalinks so maybe WPML was stuck using http://example.com/?lang=en instead of the required http://example.com/en which is the setup in Settings > Permalinks.

Hope that helps.
