Translated page switches back to original language after changes

Hi there,

we are using the latest version of PRO and Cornerstone, as well as WPML.

We always translate our pages with this setup as follows:

  • we make a Duplicate (NOT a translation)
  • we tell the system to translate the pages independently, thereby severing every automatic translation tie

Now have that problem:

  • we have translated a page using the process above
  • we then make a change in Cornerstone on the original language page (let’s say the German one in our case)
  • the translated page (English in our case) then reverts back to not being translated - it shows the German text again

Do you have any idea how to solve this?

Best
Lisa

Right now all I can tell you is there is some WPML process that is reverting this. I do have this issue on one of my pages. I do not have this issue when the translation page did not start as a duplicate. This was originally happening with all page saves from the default language, so our fix ended up being removing an action WPML does. Since it’s still happening then I think there’s a still an action we need to turn off. Most of these removals are just an in between phase as WPML updates their package for us. If you create a translation from Cornerstone without ever touching the duplicate system you should be fine. This issue only ever happened for “page” post types too.

I’ll have more time for this next week so we’ll get to the bottom of this. Let us know if there is any other issues are you encountering and have a great weekend.
