Transfer of domain messed up layout

Hi.

I recently transferred my X Theme wordpress website from a subdomain to my usual domain. I had the links changed to suit the domain and with this it has messed up the majority of my webpage layouts. Can you advise what may of went wrong, as I was due to launch the website this afternoon and have had to put it back a day or 2. I tried to upload an old update of the website, but this has failed to change anything.

Thanks, Chelsea.

Hi Chelsea,

It could be that not all of the URL references are updated to the new domain. To make sure all links are updated, you may use the Better Search Replace plugin then search for:

Search for the old domain used and replace it with the new domain.

Please make sure to backup your database before doing any changes.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi, Unfortunately that hasn’t worked. I even tried to upload a backup from the day before i changed the domain over and it still won’t work. Could it be an issue with Cornerstone?

Hi @ChelseaJLilley,

It’s not the cornerstone, the migration process and URL changes usually cause this kind of issue. And that process breaks the serialized data stored in the database. I recommend contacting a developer or webmaster and have it migrated safely from your existing backups. BUT, if this issue is already present in your existing backup files then there will be no difference. Do the working site still up? If yes, you should migrate it with All in one migration plugin or any migration service that could do it automatically and safely without a need for manually changing the URLs. Please check this https://wpshout.com/quick-guides/all-in-one-wp-migration/

Thanks!
